what is a doula?
Welcome, my name is Tracey hopgood and I am the face behind Giving Doula services, here’s some background information about me. I am married with 4 grown up children and 4 grandchildren.
After completing my maternity nurse practitioner training in 2012 I worked in Devon and the London area. I gave postpartum support for single and multiple babies. I then travelled with my husband to Angola as an expat and trailing spouse for 2 1/2 years . Here i volunteered in a children's orphanage supporting children from age 3 -16 years.
I returned to work in the London area and gained more experience as a weekly live in MNP for British and European families. This work inspired me to travel and add to my skill set. I joined my husband on a posting to the Middle east in 2016. I quickly found work in a family health and wellness centre offering continuity of care from pregnancy and beyond. @nine.oman , Instagram.
Under the watchful eye of a dedicated midwife I was encouraged to widen and develop my scope of work, offering sleep coaching and breastfeeding support in the community. Overnight postpartum care in private homes and rooming in hospital.
My time in Muscat has given me a tremendous insight into the unique culture of this beautiful country. The hospitality and warmth of the people has been a period of personal growth I shall treasure for all time. We have now repatriated to our family home in Luz on the Algarve in Portugal.
During Lockdown I developed online powerpoint classes for birth preparation and breastfeeding bringing baby home. I have recently produced a new online holistic sleep workshop using my experience of working with families over the last 4 years.
I am a hardworking passionate and caring advocate for my clients. I create a service for each individual family that is unique for them. I provide evidence based research with up to date information so my clients can make informed choices.
